Systematic Review and meta-analysis

I actively participated in a systematic review with meta-analysis on digital interventions for managing depression in primary care. This experience deepened my understanding of the methodology and challenges involved. I gained insight into the importance of a rigorous approach to ensure reliable, objective results, as well as skills in critically evaluating sources and managing large volumes of information systematically. The resulting article has been accepted and is now in the publication process. Publication …

Thematic analysis with Atlas.ti

This seminar allowed me to explore the functionality of Atlas.ti, a software I had not used or known about before. I found it intuitive and interesting and believe it is important to promote its use since it is available at UOC. Additionally, the training provided deeper insights into qualitative methodology, highlighting that this approach does not aim for data representativeness but rather a deep understanding of a phenomenon. Validation of the comprehensibility of the thematic script of a semi-structured interview

As part of a joint project with Hospital de Bellvitge to evaluate the usability of the El Meu Quiròfan application, we conducted semi-structured interviews to understand users’ perceptions and experiences. Before this, we assessed the comprehensibility of the thematic script with hospital volunteers. This experience highlighted the importance of adapting health content to users and ensuring that information is clear, accessible, and centered on their real needs. Open / other activities / topics …

My participation in the organization of the workshops, as well as my role as an observer, allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the design thinking process and its dynamics. Moreover, this experience has made me realize the importance of detecting the real needs of end users and involving them, along with all stakeholders, in the development and implementation of health and digital health interventions to improve usability, health outcomes, and user experiences. Participatory processes can help prevent people from having to adapt to technology while fostering tools that are adapted to them.

I have deepened my understanding of key concepts such as hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, p-values, and statistical significance. This course has helped me critically evaluate the results of both my own studies and those of others, enhancing the quality and reliability of my scientific work. It has also strengthened my ability to select appropriate statistical methods and understand their assumptions, which is crucial for designing robust experiments and publishing in high-impact journals.

Where to publish: How to identify leading journals

As a PhD student, this course has been extremely useful in helping me strategically choose where to publish my research. I’ve learned how to identify high-impact and reputable journals by analyzing key indicators such as impact factor, quartiles, indexing databases, and open access policies. The course has also helped me understand the risks of predatory journals and the importance of aligning the scope of a journal with the focus of my work. Fecha: Durante 2025

Last year, it was celebrated in Palma de Mallorca; this year, this event will be held in our university (UOC, Barcelona) on the 18th July. The GRECIL research group is in charge of its organization; particularly, Dra. Núria Esteve-Gibert, Dr. Alfonso Igualada, Albert Giberga (PhD student in the same program as me) and me are the members of the organization committee. During the last month of March, we have met online to determine the activities the schedule of the day of the event (talks and topics), divide the tasks (informational emails, and website preparation) and agree on deadlines. This opportunity has allowed me to be part of the organization of a research event and to become aware of the tasks that need to be carry out to ensure a successful workshop.
