Event: Global Neuropsychology Congress 2024

Reflection on the activity:

Presented two research posters at the Global Neuropsychology Congress 2024. The first poster, titled “The Role of Background Music in Attentional Networks in Parkinson’s Disease”, showcased preliminary findings from Experiment 5of my doctoral research, highlighting how music-induced mood and arousal states can modulate attentional performance in individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, using the ANT (Attentional Network Test) .

The second poster, “Efficacy of a Theatre-Based Intervention in Parkinson’s Disease”, summarized the results of a collaborative study evaluating the emotional and functional impact of theatre-based therapy in PD patients. Both presentations provided opportunities to engage with leading experts in neuropsychology and receive valuable feedback for further development of these research lines.

Presenting the results of this article during my PhD at this congress has allowed me to practice my synthesis skills to be able to convey the most important details of a study. Also it helps me to improve my public speaking skills and strengthen my ability to present research findings concisely, using technical language and has allowed me to reach a better understanding of my work. Being able to meet other PhD researchers during the congress has also allowed me to exchange experiences and reflect on my own learning process. In addition, sharing the qualitative results has allowed me to discuss with other experts in the field the importance of these results and to discuss them. Finally, communicating the results at a conference to a specialised audience has allowed me to practice oral expression skills .

Sex differences in alcohol and drug use in sexual contexts among sexually active adolescents: an observational study

Presenting my research in poster format at the Institut d’Investigació Germans Trias i Pujol Research Retreat was a valuable learning experience during my PhD. One of the biggest challenges was synthesizing and summarizing key findings while ensuring the information was presented in a clear, visually engaging, and accessible way. Unlike oral presentations, a poster requires a concise yet impactful approach to communicate complex results effectively. One of the biggest challenges was synthesizing and summarizing key findings while ensuring the information was presented in a clear, visually engaging, and accessible way. Unlike oral presentations, a poster requires a concise yet impactful approach to communicate complex results effectively. Beyond the presentation itself, participating in this retreat provided a unique opportunity for networking within my institution. I had the chance to meet other researchers, learn about the diverse projects being conducted, and engage in informal discussions about my work. The retreat fostered a collaborative and relaxed environment, allowing for insightful feedback and new perspectives that will help shape the next steps of my research.
