Reflection on the activity: In this workshop, co-hosted with Ana Hernández Sauret, we introduced participants to the fascinating world of fNIRS (Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy), a non-invasive neuroimaging technique. Through live demonstrations, we showcased how the brain reacts to cognitive and motor tasks, allowing the audience to observe real-time brain activity. The interactive format engaged attendees by encouraging them to guess which brain areas were activated during specific challenges. This experience not only raised awareness about cutting-edge neuroscience methods but also fostered curiosity about brain function and cognition.

I attended an online symposium from the Ag Bell Association. Mission of this association is to ensure that people with hearing disabilities can listen and speak, which they carry out through various means, one of them being the annual conferences. Since 2020, they have held the conferences virtually, thus tripling attendance from 350-400 people in person to 900-1100 virtually, from over 35 different countries, with representation from students, clinical professionals, and researchers. This event brings together hundreds of clinical professionals and researchers in the field of hearing disabilities, speech therapists, psychologists, ENT specialists, bioengineers, and more. Attending the conference offers both educational value and networking opportunities with other research groups in the same field.

I have presented a talk of 30 minutes of duration focused on how families and others professionals impact cognitive and language development in deaf and hard of hearing children. Also, I have participated in a round table of professionals in deaf and hard of hearing development.

Reflection on the activity:

Presented two research posters at the Global Neuropsychology Congress 2024. The first poster, titled “The Role of Background Music in Attentional Networks in Parkinson’s Disease”, showcased preliminary findings from Experiment 5of my doctoral research, highlighting how music-induced mood and arousal states can modulate attentional performance in individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, using the ANT (Attentional Network Test) .

The second poster, “Efficacy of a Theatre-Based Intervention in Parkinson’s Disease”, summarized the results of a collaborative study evaluating the emotional and functional impact of theatre-based therapy in PD patients. Both presentations provided opportunities to engage with leading experts in neuropsychology and receive valuable feedback for further development of these research lines.

Congress presentation at the Reunión Anual de la Sociedad Española de Epidemiología (Date: 10-13th of September 2024)

Presenting the results of this article during my PhD at this congress has allowed me to practice my synthesis skills to be able to convey the most important details of a study. Also it helps me to improve my public speaking skills and strengthen my ability to present research findings concisely, using technical language and has allowed me to reach a better understanding of my work. Being able to meet other PhD researchers during the congress has also allowed me to exchange experiences and reflect on my own learning process. In addition, sharing the qualitative results has allowed me to discuss with other experts in the field the importance of these results and to discuss them. Finally, communicating the results at a conference to a specialised audience has allowed me to practice oral expression skills .
