As part of my training in the Doctoral Programme in Health and Psychology, during the first semester (October – February), I will be enrolled in two key courses designed to strengthen my research skills. The first course, “Software for Data Analysis” (5 ECTS), will provide hands-on experience with advanced analytical tools and techniques, essential for managing and interpreting complex datasets. The second course, “Regression, Models, and Methods” (5 ECTS), will focus on statistical modeling and regression analysis, equipping me with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed for rigorous data-driven research. These courses will play a critical role in building the methodological foundation required for my doctoral studies.

As part of my training in the Doctoral Programme in Health and Psychology, I will be taking the course “Search for Academic Information” during November and December 2024 to enhance my skills in conducting bibliographic searches and accessing specialized databases.

Reflection on the learning and competencies:

Reflecting on my learning experience in this course, I can say that it has greatly helped me develop the competencies described in the program. On one hand, it has contributed to my ability to understand and work with theoretical models, practical cases, and statistical tools for processes such as problem definition, data preparation, and exploration, as well as key concepts of classical statistics like correlations, linear regressions, etc. On the other hand, it has also aided me in learning and understanding how to use the R tool, which is crucial in data analysis.

Although it’s part of the Master’s program in Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics, this course is fundamental for my ongoing doctoral thesis research. Analyzing and interpreting data from the Desk-Cohort study is crucial to achieve one of the main objectives: estimating SSB consumption among adolescents in Central Catalonia during the 2021-2022 academic year and examining associated demographic and socioeconomic factors.
