From October 11th to 13th (2024), I attended the ADOS-2 Clinical Accreditation Course, led by Amalia Hervás and organized by IGAIN.

This  online course was crucial for understanding the multimodal component of diagnostic evaluation in autism, as it provided thorough training on the ADOS-2 tool. ADOS-2 not only addressed the linguistic aspects of communication but also incorporated non-verbal cues and interactions, offering a comprehensive approach to assessment.

Gaining accreditation in this assessment protocol was essential for accurately analyzing both verbal and non-verbal behaviors, which are key in the diagnostic process for autism. Additionally, this training was highly valuable for the design of a new dynamic assessment of language tool that takes into account the specific characteristics of the autistic population, ensuring a more tailored and effective evaluation approach.

On October 1st (2024), I attended an online session hosted by the Doctoral School on the software Atlas.ti, presented by Sergi Fàbregues and Enrique Baleiora. This session focused on exploring the functionalities of Atlas.ti for qualitative data analysis in health and psychology research. The experts provided a range of practical tools and techniques to enhance data organization and interpretation.

The training was essential for improving my skills in qualitative research, equipping me with valuable insights into data coding and analysis that I can apply in our participatory research project.

On September 12th (2024), I attended an online seminar titled “Why Are Gestures Not Always Helpful? Task, Gesture, and Individual Characteristics Influencing Gesture’s Effects on Narrative Comprehension”, presented by Dr. Naomi Sweller.

Hosted by the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, this session provided valuable insights into how gestures impact narrative comprehension depending on various factors related to the task, the gesture itself, and individual characteristics. This knowledge will help us better understand the impact of gestures on language comprehension and oral instructions, allowing us to design a meaningful multimodal dynamic assessment approach for language.

Reflection on the activity:

Contributed as a co-author to the research article titled “Background Music and Memory in Mild Cognitive Impairment: The Role of Interindividual Differences.” The study examined the effect of background music on memory performance in individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) across three different experiments. Results showed that while background music does not universally enhance or impair memory, its effectiveness is significantly modulated by participants’ individual preferences for music. My contribution included data collection and analysis, supporting the broader aim of understanding how personalized variables influence the cognitive impact of music in clinical populations.

Reflection on the activity: Co-authored and presented a poster titled “Remote Intervention Based on Non-Invasive Neuromodulation in Post-COVID19 Syndrome: Approach to Cognitive Alterations and Fatigue”. The poster was developed in collaboration with Elena M. Marrón, Sergio Grueso, Juan García Fernández, Marco Calabria, Neus Cano, and Matie Garolera. The presentation focused on the application of non-invasive brain stimulation techniquesto address cognitive deficits and fatigue in individuals affected by post-COVID19 syndrome. This experience allowed me to share innovative therapeutic approaches with experts in brain stimulation and neuromodulation.

Hola!
