Tras haber superado en el anterior cuatrimestre las asignaturas de Inferencia estadística y Software para el análisis de datos el proceso de formación continúa, en este caso con la asignatura de Regresión: modelos y métodos del máster de bioinformática y bioestadística de la UAB (febrero 2025 – junio 2025). Los conocimientos adquiridos en esta asignatura me permitirán establecer las relaciones más sencillas que se pueden dar entre las variables de estudio de una investigación, realizar estimaciones, contrastar hipótesis, diagnosticar diferentes…

Tras haber superado en el anterior cuatrimestre las asignaturas de Inferencia estadística y Software para el análisis de datos el proceso de formación continúa, en este caso con la asignatura de Regresión: modelos y métodos del máster de bioinformática y bioestadística de la UAB (febrero 2025 – junio 2025).

Los conocimientos adquiridos en esta asignatura me permitirán establecer las relaciones más sencillas que se pueden dar entre las variables de estudio de una investigación, realizar estimaciones, contrastar hipótesis, diagnosticar diferentes modelos y emplear diseños estadísticos para realizar un análisis de datos más completo.

I recently attended the “Com fer un pla de gestió de dades amb l’eiNa DMP” training session, which provided valuable insights into Research Data Management (RDM) and the importance of creating structured Data Management Plans (DMPs).

The session emphasized the role of open science and the need for well-organized data handling, from generation to preservation and sharing. Learning about the eiNa DMP tool and its application in research projects was particularly useful, as it facilitates the planning and compliance with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). The event also included an interactive Q&A, allowing for discussion on best practices and real-world challenges in research data management.

Thanks to this workshop, we have now started developing the Data Management Plan (DMP) for the SPARK thesis :) .

During the “Advanced Bibliographic Management for Research” workshop by Joaquín Espín Sánchez, I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of Zotero 7 and its advanced features for organizing and managing research references.

The session provided practical resources and guides, such as a step-by-step PDF on Zotero functionalities and links to integrating Zotero with AI-enhanced literature discovery tools. This training highlighted how AI can streamline literature reviews, making research more efficient, structured, and insightful.

Experiencing the Boston ecosystem in Harvard University this week in combination with MIT experts, cannot be more inspiring.

I’ve always believed that dreams are the fuel for progress and today I am living proof of that. The opportunity to experience these legendary institutions, interact with brilliant minds, great professionals and immerse myself in the heart of innovation is a moment I’ll cherish forever. Understanding AI projects, quantum computing, nano-technology, bio-tech innovation????…you feel that the future really starts here!

These experiences have not only inspiring me but also reinforced the power of learning, collaboration and persistence. It’s a reminder that when you surround yourself with greatness, you unlock new possibilities within yourself.

El pasado 30 de enero he asistido a un seminario sobre Ética e Integridad en la Investigación. La sesión ha sido especialmente relevante para conocer los pasos a seguir a la hora de solicitar la aprobación del comité de ética y en que casos es necesaria dicha aprobación a la hora de realizar la tesis. I attended the Ethics, Integrity, and Data Protection workshop organized by the Research Ethics Committee (CER) of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). The session provided valuable insights into the ethical responsibilities of researchers, especially in the context of doctoral research and data management.

Key topics covered included:

  • Research integrity – Ensuring transparency, honesty, and accountability in academic work.
  • Data protection and GDPR compliance – Understanding the legal and ethical requirements for handling sensitive data.
  • Informed consent and participant rights – Best practices for ensuring ethical approval and responsible data collection.
  • Ethical challenges in digital health research – Addressing bias, privacy concerns, and responsible AI implementation.

This workshop was particularly relevant to my thesis in ensuring the ethical integrity on personalized digital health solutions for breast cancer patients.

Como parte de mi formación en este primer año de doctorado he cursado en el primer semestre (septiembre 2024 – febrero 2025) la asignatura “Inferencia Estadística” del máster de bioinformática y bioestadística y la UAB.  Esto me permite formarme en los conceptos básicos del análisis de datos, muy necesario para desarrollar de forma adecuada mi tesis. He mejorado mis habilidades en cuanto a razonamiento crítico y he aprendido a aplicar probabilidades, estimación e hipótesis para resolver problemas reales. Todo esto forma la base para continuar adquiriendo habilidades en el campo de la estadística.

The basic Jamovi course in statistics has been very helpful for me because it helped me better understand the basic concepts of statistics and apply them in a practical way. What I liked the most is that Jamovi is easy to use and makes working with data much simpler. However, I’m just starting to use it, and I have many questions about it. Some of them are answered by AI, while others I find on websites about statistics.

If you don’t have much knowledge of statistics and don’t know how to use programs like R or SPSS, I recommend this tool for data analysis.
