Place: Online course via Microsoft Teams and Moodle. Organized by the Training Unit of the Institut d’Investigació en Atenció Primària Jordi Gol (IDIAP).

Through this course, I acquired basic knowledge of applied statistics for data processing and analysis using the statistical software R.

Competences:

Systematic understanding of a field of study and mastery of research skills and methods related to that field.

Ability to conceive, design or create, put into practice and adopt a substantial research or creation process.

Ability to carry out a critical analysis and evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas.

Reflection on the learning undertaken:

Through the “Introduction to R” course, I have understood the functionality of R and RStudio software. I have learned how to efficiently import and export data, including creation and editing processes. Additionally, I have applied basic knowledge of descriptive statistics to analyse data effectively.

I have also developed the skills to perform and interpret hypothesis tests, which are crucial for validating research findings. Furthermore, I have acquired the ability to build and evaluate regression models, enhancing my capability to analyse complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.

Reflection on the learning and competencies: Attending the fNIRS workshop organized by NIRx was a great opportunity to deepen my understanding of functional near-infrared spectroscopy. The hands-on sessions helped me gain practical skills in data acquisition and analysis, which I look forward to applying in my own research. It was also valuable to connect with other researchers using fNIRS in cognitive neuroscience and clinical studies. The workshop reinforced the potential of this technique for exploring brain function in both healthy and clinical populations.
