I attended the Ethics, Integrity, and Data Protection workshop organized by the Research Ethics Committee (CER) of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). The session provided valuable insights into the ethical responsibilities of researchers, especially in the context of doctoral research and data management.
Key topics covered included:
- Research integrity – Ensuring transparency, honesty, and accountability in academic work.
- Data protection and GDPR compliance – Understanding the legal and ethical requirements for handling sensitive data.
- Informed consent and participant rights – Best practices for ensuring ethical approval and responsible data collection.
- Ethical challenges in digital health research – Addressing bias, privacy concerns, and responsible AI implementation.
This workshop was particularly relevant to my thesis in ensuring the ethical integrity on personalized digital health solutions for breast cancer patients.
